"The Path of Least Resistance Yields the Least Results"

Q. Why don't you build Flash driven websites?

A. Have you ever been sitting at your computer, looking for some site, only to have music suddenly start up?  Odds are, it's happened to you before, and if you're unlucky, it happened at work or in a public place.  Or maybe, it just started playing over the music you already had playing.  The point is, as much as the ability to have music start to auto-play sounds great, it is in practice not a good idea.  You will simply annoy more of your clients than impress.

Yet, music in Flash sites is just the beginning.  You're probably used to your trustworthy scrollmouse, always moving you down at a rate you're used to.  But then, you hit a flash site where the scroll button of your mouse is either not supported, or it functions at a different speed.

On the backend of things, Flash is not as user friendly when it comes to updating content.  Depending on how Flash immersed a site is, the most minor update, such as fixing a typo can only be done by someone who understands Flash and has the necessary software and source files.  This means that 1) You pay for someone's time to do something that should otherwise be very simple, 2) You risk being stuck with your site 'as is' should your web designer ever dissappear, 3) You sometimes can't change site design companies if you don't have access to the source files (you'd have to start over again).

These and many more problems may seem like a collection of minor issues, but in this lovely place called the Internet, ONE SECOND is all it takes for a user to go to another site.

Q. So what do you do that's different?

A.  We empower YOU.  Whenever possible, we work with open source CMS software that has an easily accessible administrative backend.  In fact, simple content updates are about as easy as writing and sending an email.  All of the source files are located on YOUR web host.  This means that if you're on a tight budget, you can save on updates by doing them yourself (we'll show you how), and, should you ever decide to switch web design companies, the site and all of the source files are accessible by the next person.  No starting over from scratch.

Q. How long does it take to build a typical site?  What's a typical website cost?

A. At Rocketbuilt, we don't deal with typical.  Every site is treated as a unique project tailored to your specific needs.  We are however happy to provide you with a quote and detailed explanation of how we would go about fulfilling your requirements.  Just contact us.

Q. What's the difference between custom design and template modification?

A. Though we're happy to create a custom design for your site from scratch, we recommend first considering a modified template.  The results are often similar, but at less expense to you.  For example, we can build you a static site with a custom designed theme, but being a static site, it won't have many of the functionalites of a dynamic site.  Visually, they may eventually end up looking similar, but with the static site, future updates are slightly more complex, entailing more expense for you.  On the other hand, we can build you a dynamic site using a professional template, but then modify it significantly in order to produce something that is just as unique as a custom design.  Quite often, a modified template is unrecognizable when compared to its original template, as in this example:
